“It used to be the little things that bothered me. Now it’s those little things that make my day”
Dan is a songwriter based on the Gold Coast, Queensland Australia. Independently releasing music since 2001, on tape, CD, vinyl and digitally, Dan continues to ponder, connect, to search for more through his music.
“I write songs as a challenge, as therapy. Through song I’m connected to a modest audience and other creatives who equally choose to create, to travel the path that can at times offer hope, recognition and fulfilment and equally feel like failure, like a burden. Like many others I cannot help but to write and create. You take the good, manage the bad and be thankful for the space it offers.
Dan surrounds himself with great friends and players who equally share his love for music, songwriting and creating. Since 2012 his songs have been released via City Over Sand, a band shared with Brad Hosking and Jules Keshan.
“The experience of performing live in a band is like nothing else in this world, it’s difficult to convey with words. So too, the challenge, process, teamwork and trust required to document, record and realise a song in the studio is equally euphoric.”
For Dan, the rewards of songwriting, playing music and creating something new travels far beyond what typical industry success could ever provide.
Following the release of City Over Sand’s 2016 ‘Good Grief’ album and Dan’s 2018 single ‘Into Tomorrow’ a new cycle of preproduction in underway for a new 2019 release.
